Reflections

Being alive starts with the assumption that one is alive. One has to behave like a conscious creature before knowing its self as one.
We are all units of consciousness. This is the truth. We stepped out of the waters and climbed the trees. Then, we entered caves. We huddle together for protection but at the end of the day, however we may delude ourselves, we are alone. Individual units of emergent consciousness.

For most of life, it was every man for himself.
But then something amazing happened.
A consciousness evolved above its own purpose.
It broke some rules.
It became emergent, aware of itself. With an understanding of what self is. A life with a purpose - or so it felt. The intuitive "Why" was always more important than the "What" . Then, we evolved again. We became a little more self-aware, or so we felt. We started making small assumptions to explain the small stuff. And bigger ones to explain deeper, in obvious symptoms of reality. Then, we observed.

We waited, we tinkered, we burrowed and we shared ideas. Over thousands of years. Knowledge created and destroyed cyclically. Then, they tried to hand knowledge out. To help each other find things, share things became sources of living.

We carried each other through experiences, while never completely disengaging from the very fact that this consciousness emerged for a purpose.
No matter how desensitized and comfortable we get, we mustn't forget that the mind was made for different things.

The intuitive notion of trust helps us understand that.

We award people trust based on patterns we developed when we were too primitive to ponder over the idea of the mind.
We somehow decided to not change those notions again.
Just like we stuck to certain obsolete, irrational theories about existence.

The purpose of life is to understand itself.

I add, survive.

  1. As you said, it's about understanding life and relating the lessons behind your experiences.

I had to read it twice to apprehend the post. It was very twisty and fuzzy. But I get your point! Very good choice of vocab.

    Cheers :)
